Review: £1 MUA Lipstick in Nectar (Shade 16)

Anyone up for a lovely new lipstick? Go on, for a pound, why not!?
If your feeling a bit hard up after an expensive Christmas or if you couldn’t resist splashing more cash (or credit cards) shopping the sales, why not treat yourself to a lovely little January pick-me-up in the form of this little coral number from MUA?

This MUA lipstick in Nectar (Shade 16) is a gorgeous peachy coral shade with light yellow neutral undertones making it a fairly complimentary shade for most complexions. The packaging is quite similar to the NYX lipsticks as it has the little clear pot of colour at the bottom which is actually usable lipstick (unlike the NYX ones!) This pot is actually detachable and makes a really cute little extra feature and it’s not really something you would expect to find on a £1 lippie!
The pigmentation and colour pay-off is excellent and it looks almost completely opaque on the lips.
This lipstick is really creamy, easy to apply and has great staying power. If your not eating or drinking, this lipstick will easily stay put for at least 4 hours. When first applied, it has a slightly glossy look and feel to it but after a few hours of wear it tends to dry out slightly and take on a more matte look and feel. To remedy this, I’d simply advise wearing a bit of lip balm underneath!

I currently have 4 MUA lipsticks in my collection and I will be posting individual reviews of the other 3 shades on here soon. These lipsticks are really amazing value for money and although I would say that there is some variation in quality between the formulations of the different shades in the range that I own, this is definitely one of the better ones. It’s easily comparable to a lot of the more expensive drug store lipsticks available and I would highly recommend trying this if you haven’t done so already!

I did a video review of this lovely lipstick nearly a year ago and this is my most viewed YouTube video to date with 3,000 views! I’ve posted that video below in case you’re interested in checking it out!

  8. It is a lovely shade, probably one more for summer though tbh! There's not a lot you can get for a pound these days is there?! x

  9. Hope you do try them out as you can't really go wrong for a quid! Although some of the formulations do vary a little between different shades, shade 16 is one of my faves for both colour and texture. It's pretty impressive tbh!

  10. I know! And one of the best things about these lippies is that even though they're super cheap, they don't really look or feel like they are. They can easily compete with other more pricey drugstore lipsticks! x

  11. I would definitely recommend giving them a try some time. I only have four at the moment and really want to get some more as for a pound, why not! x

  12. That's one of the things that I love most about them too, who would guess they only cost a mere £1!

  13. I know, me too! It's nice to wear a pretty feminine colour that isn't pink for a change! x

  14. Thank you lovely! It's so nice to find a coral toned lipstick that isn't bright red for a change 😉

  15. That's amazing for the price it is.
I've always wondered about this brand and though that there could be no way that it would be that good for the price but the colour and pigmentation look great! 🙂
Glad I stumbled across your blog – you've got a new follower here! 🙂

  17. What other shades would you suggest? x

  18. I've actually got a few other MUA £1 lipstick reviews coming up soon but the other shade I would instantly recommend is shade 13. It's a really bright red (think Taylor Swift Red) but the texture is just as creamy and opaque as this one 🙂 x

  19. Oh will love to see them! Can't wait. I will have a look now, that's a perfect colour of what I want I will be sure to buy! I have shade 3 MUA lipstick, and I enjoy, thank you! x

  20. Might have to put shade 3 on my to buy list! x

  21. Shade 16 is definitely one more for the summer but the plum one sounds lovely and a bit more wintery too! x

  22. Thanks lovely, you also have a new follower in me too! x
