Poundland Purple Pop Matt Lip Colour

Poundland Purple Pop Matt Lip Colour_Make Up Gallary Pout Matters Review

Make Up Gallery at Poundland

Poundland launched it’s own makeup range called Make Up Gallery back in October 2014. Just over two years later, it’s still going strong; so strong, in fact that they’ve added some new releases to the range, rather exciting additions l might add.

If you would like to have a closer look at some of these new products, you can check out my Poundland Make Up Gallery haul here.

One of the most exciting new product launches from Make Up Gallery is their Pout Matters Matte Lip Colours. There are four shades in this collection: Purple Pop, Cherry Pop, Vintage Pink and Latte.

In this post, I’ll be reviewing Purple Pop which you can find out my thoughts on below.

Cherry Pop is a classis pillarbox red that reminds me of the 1940’s / 50’s Hollywood Pin Up era.

Vintage Pink is a subtle light pink shade with silver micro shimmer pigments.

Latte is a neutral brown shade which I suspect is highly popular as it was out of stock for a-g-e-s which doesn’t surprise me considering the Kylie Jenner nude matte lip phenomena / hysteria from a while back.

Review: Poundland Purple Pop Matt Lip Colour

Poundland Purple Pop Matt Lip Colour_Make Up Gallary Pout Matters Review

Like most reasonably minded people, I did have to question how much I could realistically expect in the way of quality from the Make Up Gallery at Poundland Purple Pop Matt Lip Colour.

However, this budget beauty babe is all about the bargains and I’m completely undeterred and unapologetic about my (ruthless) pursuit of money saving makeup magic and I’ll do anything (and I do mean anything) to find the best beauty bargains for you guys.

So naturally, I immediately set about putting this budget busting matte lip colour through it’s paces.

Pigmentation & Texture

The first thing that strikes me about this product is the bold shade: there are definitely purple tones detectable and presumably hence the name Purple Pop. I can’t help but feel that it leans more towards pink which isn’t necessarily a bad thing if you like your makeup daytime / work appropriate which let’s face it, most of us do.

The boldness of this shade is only possible because of the dense colour pigmentation which is a characteristic I appreciate in lip products, but it’s the texture that surprises me the most. It’s markedly smoother than I expected, especially given that it’s a matte formula because those are typically dryer and harder to apply than their creamier or glossy counterparts. But, this glides on smoothly like butter on warm crumpets and the doe foot wand applicator gives a neat finish, negating any real need for lip liner. That’s definitely another win for us lazy gals busy women as it saves us some time and effort!

Wearability

No matter what lip product I use, I almost always apply a small amount of lip balm before hand just to make sure my lips are well conditioned and to give a smooth, even base for my lip products to sit on. This is even more important when I apply matte lip products because I hate that feeling of dried out prune lips; so uncomfortable!!! There have been times in the past when I’ve found that even when I’ve applied lip balm before hand some matte lip products have still dried out my lips terribly.  This is by no means a bulletproof method but it usually works a treat. I’m pleased to report that this Pout Matters Matte Lip Colour felt comfortable to wear. I didn’t detect any dryness whatsoever on my lips.

Regarding wear time: it started to come away quite easily once I started eating and drinking. It’s definitely not one of those everlasting, indestructible matte lip products. While I wouldn’t specifically recommend wearing this out to a dinner party or restaurant, it will last a decent amount of time before reapplication is necessary, providing there is no food or drink involved!

Final Thoughts…

Considering how popular the matte lip trend has been recently, it’s nice to see this affordable and easily accessible option has become available.

This Poundland Purple Pop Matt Lip Colour is ideal for those of you who are just starting out with makeup, its fabulous for those of us used to life on a limited budget and it’s a great option for those of you who are used to something a little more high-end who would like to treat yourself to a little something special but are broke until payday!

Summarily, it’s a great all-rounder that will suit lot’s of people’s tastes and budgets. The quality shouldn’t disappoint for the price but beware, the colour is bold so be ready for comments and compliments. Plus, should somebody ask you what lipstick you’re wearing, you may have to show your (potentially embarrassing) Poundland Make Up Gallery purchasing habits!

Have you tried anything from Make Up Gallery? Would you wear this Poundland Purple Pop Matt Lip Colour?

I think that Poundland is coming into its own with makeup/nail polish. Their selection is really growing and it is affordable to experiment new ideas. But have noticed that their nail varnish actually lasts well.
