Product Review: The Zebra Complete Palette by Famous x (£11.99)

The ZEBRA Complete Palette by Famous x
Hi Lovelies,

Today’s post is a review of a fantastic little multifunctional palette for the face and eyes. And what’s more, this funky palette is from M.U.A’s sister company, Famous x, so if you like M.U.A products, you’ll probably love this!
The Zebra Complete Palette from Famous x retails for £11.99 and is available form their website here. Like M.U.A, Famous x regularly have some amazing offers on their website including 1/2 price on everything, so it’s well worth looking out for deals like that if you’d like to try something from Famous x.

Here’s what this product has to say for itself:

‘Get your sexy stripes on with this perfect all-you-could want palette containing:

16 shadows to suit any mood from subtle to bright. Get that perfect flush with 3 carefully selected blusher shades. Finish off your look with a dusting of bronzer. Set in place with transparent powder. Your perfect on the move make-over station’.

I love the eye-shadow colours in this palette as there is such a great variety of shades and textures to mix and match. The darker sheer textured shadows, like Glitz and Glam, are totally amazing. The matt lighter shades, like honey and platinum, have a little less colour pay-off but they are still really useful as highlights, bases, blending colours, etc.

The blushes are lovely and I especially like the Gorge Blush shade, it’s so vibrant but still wearable and very complimentary. The powder is transparent so it doesn’t add lot’s of unwanted coverage when using it to set your foundation. The bronzer is lovely, it’s very subtle and perfect for contouring those cheek bones! It does look a little orange toned in the pan, but on the skin I was pleased to discover that it looked quite natural. It has a hint of shimmer but it’s only very slight.

I love the fact that all of the shades are named. I think that sometimes a good name can help to spark a bit of make-up creativity!

As you can see from the photo above, my palette did arrive damaged with a cracked mirror which presumably happened during transit. It did come very well packed in a padded envelope with lots of bubble wrap so I was quite surprised by this. If you ever receive an item that is faulty or damaged, it is well worth contacting the company and explaining the problem to them as they will almost always be prepared to send a replacement product or offer a refund. However, on this occasion, I didn’t feel that it was necessary to contact the company as this palette was kindly sent to me for the purposes of reviewing and thankfully, all the important bits were still very well in tact and ready to test!

I do feel that this palette would be excellent for travelling with due to its functionality and compact size but on the other hand, powder cosmetics are prone to breakage and I’m not sure this palette is exactly heavy duty. Also, because this palette is so lovely, I wouldn’t want to risk damaging it any further. That said, I am going on holiday soon and this would be a great item to take as I have very limited suitcase space…

Eyes: Beam (Brow Bone) Honey (Lid) Spark (Outer Corner) Burnt (Crease)
Cheeks: Gorge Blush

I created the look above using the top row of neutral eye-shadow shades from the palette. I think that they can be used to create a really nice, subtle daytime look. I also used to brightest pink blush which I love! It really is a gorgeous colour. I did think that the pressed powder could be a little too dark for my light skin tone after swatching it, but it actually seemed just right on my face and because it’s transparent, it goes on really lightly.

Final Thoughts…

I really like this funky little multi-purpose palette from Famous x. It’s really cute and even though I’m in my mid twenties, I’m not at all ashamed to admit that I still adore the prettiness and girliness of this palette! The make-up inside is very good quality. I expected the eye-shadows to be very good, knowing the quality of the M.U.A ones, but I was surprised at how good the blushes, bronzer and powder were as well.
