Review I MEME Skincare Box

This is my first ever Memebox and I have to say that I am super excited about it as I’ve never tried anything quite like this before. If you aren’t familiar with Memebox, they are a Korean non-subscription based beauty box service. They offer a huge variety of themed make up and beauty boxes on their website at any one time. You can pick out which ever box you like the most to order but there is still a big element of surprise as you don’t find out what’s in the box until it actually arrives.

This Memebox is the Special Skin Care Box #9 and is absolutely packed with products. It contains five full-size products as well as two sample products.

Let’s start off with the two sample products as that’s what beauty boxes are traditionally known for. The first sample is the Nasarang Rose Balencing Toner which contains natural rose oil. This is quite unlike any toner I’ve ever tried before as it is much thicker in consistency and feels almost like a serum. It also claims to contain whitening and anti-wrinkle properties which I wouldn’t typically expect from a toner! It has a subtle rose scent which is pleasant although the sample is quite tiny at 5 ml. Unfortunately, I don’t think I’ll be able to gauge how well it performs properly based on this size but I’ll enjoy using it none the less. A full-size version of this product is 50ml and retails for $58. The equivalent value of this sample is $5.80.

The second sample that the box contains is the Verikos Advanced Power Tightening Cream which is enriched with lotus flower water, collagen and peptides and is designed to fight the first signs of ageing. This does have a very pleasant lotus flower fragrance and the consistency is light and gel like. Even though this is another tiny 4ml sample, I feel like I will be able to try this out a little more effectively as I will concentrate this around where I have the most fine lines. A full-sized version of this product is 75ml and retails for $36. The equivalent value of this sample is $1.92.

The next item I’m going to talk about is this Boscians Cycle Repair Wrinkle Spot Cream. This product is designed to be used on areas where there are fine lines or wrinkles. As I’m only 25, I don’t have a great deal to worry about in the wrinkle department just yet (Thank Goodness!) and this product is actually predominantly recommended to be used around the eye area where most of us have a few fine lines to take care of anyway. This smells very perfumed which I do find pleasant although perhaps not ideal for a product designed to be used around the sensitive eye area. But I have to say, to my surprise, this doesn’t sting my eyes at all although if some of the product actually got into my eyes, that probably would be a different story! This does feel very nourishing and I’m going to really enjoy using this particularly at night as I prefer to use an eye gel during the day. This product is full-size and at 15ml it retails for $24.

The next product in my Memebox is this Benton Snail Bee High Content Essence. This contains byproducts from both bees and snails which admittedly doesn’t exactly make it sound appealing but luckily I’m an open-minded girl so I gave it a go! Bee venom has actually become quite a popular ingredient within skin-care recently but I’ve never tried anything that has snail secretions in before. The consistency is that of a light and watery gel that’s quickly absorbed. I’ve tried this product a few times and my first impressions are that it’s actually very inoffensive compared to what one might expect from a product such as this but I haven’t tried it enough yet to give an opinion on how well it actually performs. This is a full-size product at 60ml and it retails for $18.

The next product is this Dewytree Tea Tree Porest Powder In Toner which contains extracts of green clay and tea tree for treating blemishes. This is also designed to close up any enlarged pores which is something I’ve actually been noticing on my forehead recently. This feels like a gentle toner and I do always include a toner in my skin care routine and I’ve almost finished up my Apivita Tonic Lotion (review here) so I will be in need of this toner very soon! This is a full size product at 200ml and retails for $26.

This is the fourth full size item in my Memebox and it’s another Dewytree product. This one is the 7 cut extreme serum. It’s free from lots of nasty ingredients like parabens, mineral oil and sulfates and is designed to be gentle. This has a slightly oily consistency but it’s still light enough to be absorbed rather easily and there is a subtle citrus fragrance. The whitening aspect is a little bit off putting for me personally but rather than lightening the skin, this seems to be designed to help with freckles, dark spots and uneven skin tone. I do have a lot of red marks from where spots have been which never seem to go away so I will be interested to see if this can help with that. This product is 30ml and retails for $41.

This is the fifth and final full size product in my Memebox and it could be a case of saving the best until last. This Secret Key Super Plumping Jelly Cream is a very uniquely textured product that contains ingredients from super foods including blueberry, orange, almond, broccoli, pumpkin and salmon eggs – yes, salmon eggs! Again, this isn’t exactly the sort of thing I would expect to find in a face cream but I’m sure there has to be some kind of method behind this apparent madness! I have tried this cream and once again my first impressions are surprisingly favourable. The jelly texture is very light yet hydrating and there is something of a fruity scent to this product that I appreciate. I haven’t tried this enough to give give my full verdict yet, but I think I will probably enjoy using this a lot especially now that my Organic Surge Blissful Daily Moisturiser (review here) is all but used up now! This is 50ml of product and retails for £77.

Korean skincare is said to be some of the best the world has to offer and the products I’ve tried so far from this box certainly differ from all of the Western-style skincare that I’ve ever tried before. This selection of Korean skincare does seem to have the most curious selection of ingredients I’ve ever come across in any skincare products before. The interesting textures and sheer variety of non-chemical ingredients make for some very intriguing new products to try out!

I also think that this Memebox represents great value for money as the retail price for all of the products combined is $193.72 whereas the box itself only costs $29.99. My box only took a few days to arrive which was fantastic considering it was shipped all the way from Korea!

Let me know if there are any products that you would like to see a follow-up review of!

If your interested in trying a Memebox then there are plenty of discount codes around including this one which will get you 5% off any order until the end of August: 3SG6A7.
