W7 Bali Lip & Cheek Stain Review: A Benetint Dupe?

W7 A Hint Of Bali Lip & Cheek Stain Review - A Benefit Benetint Makeup Dupe

Benefit's Benetint Lip and Cheek Stain is probably regarded by many as the best lip and cheek stain around but it's certainly not the cheapest at £24.50 for 12.5 ml! Today, I have a wonderful Benetint dupe from cheap makeup brand W7 that's a bargain at only £3.49 for 10ml.

The W7 A Hint of Bali Lip & Cheek Stain gives skin a healthy glow and adds slight hint of tint to the lips with it's timeless rosy red colour.

W7 A Hint of Bali Lip & Cheek Stain Swathes - The Best Lip & Cheek Stain?
W7 A Hint Of Bali Lip & Cheek Stain Swathes - The Best Cheek & Lip Stain?

This is a dual purpose product as it can be used as a liquid blush and a liquid lip stain. Since my makeup bag is full to bursting already, I appreciate the dual functionality of this lip and cheek stain as it's effectively two products in one.

Lip Stain...

As a lip stain, this works well as a long lasting and natural looking, barely there lip colour. I like to wear this on minimal makeup days were I don't want to have to top up my lipstick every 2 hours!

Cheek stain...

As a cheek stain, it's easy to apply with the built in brush applicator. Like most cheek stains, after applying, it needs to be blended out immediately with a fingertip using a gentle dabbing motions before it dries down to a long lasting finish. Liquid blushers like this have a reputation for being difficult to work with but I've found it just takes a little practice, especially if you're not used to using liquid cheek stains. One thing I did find out the hard way is that it's important to apply this before any powder as otherwise the powder will go patchy! I also like to apply this as a base for my powder blusher on those full makeup days.

This is one of the best liquid lip and cheek stains I've ever tried and I'm always happy to find good quality, on trend cheap makeup. It's an ideal makeup staple for summer and because it's a stain, it should hold up pretty well even in the hot and sunny climate that we should have here in the UK soon!

What's the best lip and cheek stain you've tried?

FIVE RIMMEL MAKEUP Products for a FIVER! Poundland HAUL!

I always enjoy shopping in Poundland as they get new makeup stock in quite regularly and if you happen to pop in at the right time, you can get some really great bargains.

Poundland often sell products from popular drugstore makeup brands such as Rimmel, L'Oreal and Maybelline in addition to other lesser known brands, some foreign brands and more recently, their own Makeup Gallery brand.

I was lucky enough to find a few lovely makeup bargains from Rimmel in Poundland recently and I was delighted to pick up FIVE RIMMEL MAKEUP Products for a FIVER!

Rimmel London Moisture Renew Lipstick // 470 Glam Plum Fulham // 4g // RRP £6.49 // Only £1! // SAVING £ 5.49

This is a gorgeous red plum lipstick that feels buttery smooth, has great pigmentation and even smells nice!

Rimmel London Lasting Finish By Kate Moss Lipstick // 02 // 4g // RRP £5.49 // Only £1! //SAVING £4.49

This is a beautiful lipstick from the popular Kate Moss line. It's a gorgeous hot pink shade that leans slightly towards coral. Once again, the pigmentation is really good and the formula feels smooth and creamy.

Rimmel London Scandaleyes Eye Shadow Stick // 011 Bluffing // RRP £4.49 //  Only £1! // SAVING £3.49

I'm not usually a massive fan of cream eye shadow type products but this is something that I though I would try as it was only £1 and I'm happy to say that I do like it! This makes a great quick an easy one colour eye shadow and it also works quite well as a cream base for other neutral eye shadows. This colour is a lovely, on trend metallic bronze shade which has great colour pay-off and it well on my eyelids without creasing which is always a plus!

Rimmel London Salon Pro Nail Polish // 421 Clearly Clear // 12ml // RRP £4.49 //  Only £1! // SAVING £3.49

I can't get enough of clear nail polish as it's so useful as a base / top coat, it always looks nice on it's own and it's also great for painting over fashion jewellery rings to help prevent that dreaded 'green finger syndrome'! I haven't tried this yet but I've heard good things about it and the inclusion of Lycra as an ingredient sounds seriously interesting!

Rimmel London Glam Eyes HD Eye Shadow Quad // 002 English Oak // RRP £4.99 //  Only £1! // SAVING £3.99

I've passed up on these types of quads when I've seen them in Poundland before as I feel that although the Union Jack design is cute, it's also very impractical as some of the shades are compacted into tiny triangles which are very hard to get at with an eye shadow brush! However, because this was such a nice neutral palette, I decided to try it as I very much enjoy wearing these types of shades at the moment. The pigmentation on these is fabulous once again and they blend well too. All of the shades are shimmery and it would have been nice to have a matte shade in there too but this is still a very nice little eye shadow palette overall!

A lot of the branded drugstore makeup that Poundland sells is often still current and available from places like Boots and Superdrug for 3, 4, or even 5 times the price!

I think that purchasing makeup from Poundland is a great way to buy makeup on a budget and build up your makeup collection without spending a fortune.

So there you go, FIVE RIMMEL MAKEUP products for a FIVER! As you can see, I saved a great deal off the RRP on all of these products and collectively I managed to save £20.95 in total which is great!

Do you or would you ever consider buying makeup / toiletries from Pound Shops?

March Beauty Favourites 2015

Makeup and Beauty Favourites from March

- Seba Med Cleansing Bar 150g // £2.99 // Available from Weldricks

This is a gentle soap free cleansing bar that I picked up nearly a month ago after my skin became very irritated, sensitive and super prone to acne breakouts. This has a PH level of 5.5 making it slightly acidic and not too alkaline which is perfect for protecting the skin's delicate outer layer known as the acid mantle. It also contains a coconut oil derivative which is anti-microbial and good a reducing skin bacteria that can lead to acne breakouts.

I always think that skin care products can be difficult to review as it takes a while to find out how well something truly works. But so far so good with this! My skin has improved a lot after I started using this and my breakouts have been reduced. I'll keep you posted on how things keep going!

- Lacura Beauty Lipstick in the shade 160 Dark Cherry // Available from Aldi

This is a beautiful lipstick from Aldi's Lacura Beauty range. Rumor has it that the Lacura Beauty makeup is manufactured in the same factory used by some high end makeup brands. Judging by the quality of this lipstick, I have to say that I'm inclined to believe that! This is a beautiful shade, it glides on to my lips so easily and the color pay-off is great.

- Max Factor Facefinity All Day Flawless Foundation in the shade Ivory 40 // RRP £12.99 // Available from Boots

This isn't just a monthly favourite but potentially a bit of an all time favourite too! I really like this foundation as it gives really good coverage, lasts all day, looks natural and the shade Ivory is a great colour match for my pale skin. This also comes in a glass bottle with a pump which makes it a lot more user friendly than my other favourite foundation which is the Revlon Colorstay!

- Max Factor Waterproof False Lash Effect Mascara in the shade Black Brown // RRP £10.99 // Available from Boots

I'm not usually a huge fan of waterproof mascara as despite the obvious advantages, it's always a total pain to remove as it usually requires lots of rubbing and tugging at the delicate skin around the eye area which is obviously a big no-no. This mascara is difficult to remove without the right eye makeup remover but once you've got that bit figured out, the rest is a breeze. A single layer of this provides a natural look but it can also be layered up to create a rather dramatic amount of length and volume. The brush separates lashes and the brown black colour is less intense and more natural looking than black.

- Max Factor Excess Intensity Longwear Eyeliner in the shade 06 Brown // RRP £6.99 // Available from Boots

As you can tell, I'm really enjoying Max Factor makeup at the moment! I've really been gravitating towards them as a brand recently and I've discovered some great little products from them. Although a pencil eyeliner can never really be that exciting this one does have pretty much everything I look for in a pencil eyeliner! The formula is creamy and easy to apply, it has great pigmentation and it lasts all day. This brown shade is also quite natural looking and a nice change from the more usual black. The only downside to this pencil is that once you twist it up, it can't be twisted back down again. Also, like a lot of creamy mechanical pencils, if you twist it up a little bit too much, the end will break off and you'll waste some product!

So, there are my current faves for the month of March! Can't believe it's already the 1st of April tomorrow! Watch out for any cheeky trickery as that means it's also April Fools' Day!

Review I Yankee Candle River Valley

Yankee Candle River Valley Sampler Votive

I have another Yankee Candle mini review for you today! If you saw my Stony Cove Yankee Candle review you will know that I picked up a couple of bargain Yankee Candle Sampler Votives from my local Outlet Shopping Center for only £0.89p each which is less than half of their usual retail price.

This candle's scent is described as:
"A cool and calm stroll by the river... watery green notes with hints of sage, amber and oak."

This candle has a cologne type of fragrance which is good if you want a change from the more typical sweet and floral feminine fragrances. This is another candle from the Yankee Fresh fragrance range and I do enjoy their outdoors themed fragrances. This has burn time of up to 15 hours which is excellent for such a small candle and the throw is also pretty good. I always burn my Yankee candle samplers in my votive holder as this increases the burn time and also makes the candle burn down evenly. After a couple of hours of burning, this fragrance fills up a room beautifully.

Burning a Yankee Candle Sampler Motive in River Valley

Review I Yankee Candle River Valley in Mosaic Holder

I'm really enjoying Yankee Candles more and more all the time and although I probably won't commit to buying a large jar any time soon, the sampler candles are something that I really enjoy and are perfect for those of us wanting a little treat on a budget. I've also noticed various Yankee Candle retailers having a 'fragrance of the month' where they offer 30% off a chosen fragrance including wax tarts and samplers, so that's definitely something to look out for when out shopping!

Do you have any Yankee Candle recommendations for me to try?

Review: Born Pretty Lip Crayons

Review: Born Pretty Lip Crayons Shades 01 & 12

Lip crayons are something I've really started to enjoy using recently. I love the combination of sheer coverage, moisturising formula and subtle shine in Clinique-style twist up 'chubby stick' packaging. The lip crayons I'm reviewing today are from Born Pretty and their Hot Shop makeup range, which is clearly a imitation of Topshop's make up range!

I've tried some lipsticks from the Born Pretty Hot Shop range previously and I was seriously impressed by those (review here). I had high hopes for these lip crayons so if you would like to know what I think of them, read on!

Born Pretty Hot Shop Lip Crayons in 12 & 01
Born Pretty Hot Shop Lip Crayons in 12 & 01

Born Pretty is an online shop which sells a huge selection of products including lots of make up. One of the things I love most about Born Pretty is the fact that there is free shipping available on everything, which is just incredible!

There are 12 shades available in this lip crayon range and I have two shades: 01 and 12. This might only be a small point to mention but oh, how I wish these had shade names instead of numbers! Anyway, these lip crayons are good value for money as they're usually £5.40 but they're currently on offer for £2.58.

The packaging is lovely and surprisingly good quality considering the budget price point. The lip crayons themselves come in an attractively illustrated mint green cardboard box which has a information leaflet inside including an ingredients list as well as an exact expiration date for the product (03/10/2017) which I think is much more useful than most UK make up expiration guides which only give the product shelf life terms of months (e.g. 24) which is easy to loose track of!

The crayons come presented beautifully in mint green casing with an overall appearance very close to Topshop Makeup. This packaging does get scratched easily though so I'm super careful with mine when carrying them in my handbag. I adore the mint green packaging so much, I really don't want to ruin it! The crayons have a twist up mechanism on the bottom making them simple to use and eliminating the need to sharpen, which is convenient and hygienic.

The formula is smooth and creamy and the colour payoff is surprisingly pigmented for a lip crayon. They feel very moisturising and it's not surprising since they contain shea butter, mango seed oil, jojoba oil, and vitamin E. These look really nice on the lips but they do transfer easily as the formula doesn't set or dry. To stay looking at their best, these will need topping up every couple of hours.

These lip crayons are said to contain 'LED Pixel Pigment' technology that creates a shimmery and multidimensional look. I would say these lip crayons do give a flattering and fuller look to my lips. However, the shade 01 contains some fine gold shimmer particles so I actually prefer shade 12 overall which doesn't have any noticeable shimmer.

Born Pretty Hot Shop Lip Crayons in 01 & 12
Born Pretty Hot Shop Lip Crayons in 12 & 01

Shade 1 is a lovely muted coral shade with a touch of gold shimmer which does look quite noticeable in some lights.

Shade 12 is a brownish plum shade without any shimmer.

Overall Summary

Gorgeous and sturdy packaging
Easy to use twist up pencil format
Nice pigmentation
Buildable coverage
Moisturising formula
Lovely shade range
No scent
Free shipping
Topshop makeup dupe
Wears off after a couple of hours
Does transfer
Feels a bit waxy

The packaging gets scratched very easily

So, nice products overall! I'm not as blown away by these as I was by the Lipsticks but I do think that these are nice everyday makeup staples as they're quick and easy to apply and just add a little something to your lips on days when you don't want lipstick or gloss.

Are you a fan of lip crayons?
