Review I Lemon Cream Yankee Candle

Lemon Cream Yankee Candle

Today, I have another Yankee Candle Votive Review! This time, I'm talking about the gorgeous Simply Home Lemon Cream fragrance. You can see some of my other Yankee candle reviews here and here.

This Candle's fragrance is described as being " a macaroon, soft chewy and creamy lemon..." Sounds delicious, right?! The scent is quite complex and consists of three main fragrance layers: "gingerbread, french vanilla & icing sugar with fresh, floral lemon."

This votive has one of the strongest fragrances I've found among Yankee Candles so far. Right from the moment I bought this and brought it home, it made the car and the living room smell delicious! Burning it just takes the fragrance to a whole new level but it's not overpowering either. These small samplers can actually last up to 15 hours, especially if you burn them in a purpose made votive holder like I always do! 15 hours is actually a very impressive amount of burn time for such a small candle!

The Yankee Candle Simply Home range was actually designed to be exclusive to the US market but some of the fragrances have made their way to Europe and the UK in recent years. I'm delighted with this gorgeous Lemon Cream Yankee Candle but repurchasing it might be a slight problem as I haven't seen it available in many places. I bought this one from Clinton Cards during a 'Candle of the Month' offer and I've started to notice that lots of Yankee Candle retailers are running Candle of the Month promotions where you can save 25% off the RRP of a selected fragrance of the month. This usually means you will pay about £1.35 per sampler rather than £1.80, saving a modest £0.45. Not a huge saving I know, but remember: If you look after the pennies, the pounds will take care of themselves!

I love this candle, it's absolutely gorgeous and definitely one for lovers of sweet foodie fragrances like myself! I would recommend giving it a try if you see it in any shops near you as I think you'll be pleasantly surprised by this delicious little candle.

Have you ever tried the Lemon Cream Yankee Candle and what Yankee Candle fragrance do you think I should try next?

NOTD #4: NYC Spring Tulip & Revlon Stunning

NYC Nail Polish in 300 Spring Tulip & Revlon Nail Enamel in 340 Stunning

I have a love / hate relationship with nail polish; sometimes I love it and sometimes I hate it! I love taking some time out to pamper myself with a manicure and I love the finished results. However, I hate how long it can take for nail polish to dry and I hate how quickly it usually starts to chip on my nails. However, I'm trying to make a conscious effort to paint my nails more often as I have a rather large stash of nail polish that I need to enjoy using more often!

My most recent manicure utilizes a budget friendly combination of nail polishes. I picked up the NYC In a New York Color Minute Quick Dry Nail Polish in the shade 300 Spring Tulip from Poundworld. In fact, this nail polish actually came in a packet with 2 other NYC nail polishes for only £1. That's a crazy good bargain! The shade Spring Tulip is so appropriate for the current season of Spring here in the UK. The formula is a little bit runny and the coverage was a little bit streaky but after 3 coats, it looked pretty decent. The dry time was good and the brush was pretty easy to work with. There is 9.7 ml of product in this bottle so that represents really good value for money as it's a full size product.

The Revlon Nail Enamel in 340 Stunning was something that I was lucky enough to find in Poundland recently. This exact same shade of nail polish is still sold in places like Boots for £6.49, so I'd say that it was quite a good bargain! I actually saved myself a very respectable £5.49 off the RRP. Revlon Stunning is a glitter top coat that contains large round silver holographic glitter and small round silver holographic glitter particles in a clear polish. The finished texture can feel a little bit rough so I like to apply a completely clear polish over the top for a smoother finish. For this manicure, I was feeling posh so I pulled out my much loved Seche Vite which gives the most amazing glossy shine and lasting finish. It also drys super fast which is a massive bonus for me too!

I think that this is a lovely polish combination for Spring and Summer. I also find that having super bright, glittery nails is a fun way to inject some eye-catching colour into any outfit!

What's on your nails at the moment?

£1 Glamour Magazine & Makeup Freebie Worth £11+

July 2015 Glamour Maazine 2015 With Free Model Co Eyeliner Pencil

I don't buy magazines very often and when I do, I don't mind admitting that it's usually simply to get my hands on a makeup freebie!

This month's issue of Glamour magazine is half price at only £1 and every magazine comes with a free Model Co makeup item worth between £11 - £16, so it's definitely worth picking up if you want to try out some new makeup. There are four products to choose from: A lip gloss, a mascara, a blue eyeliner pencil and a black eyeliner pencil. I picked up the black eyeliner pencil as my current one from Boots Seventeen is so tiny, I can't even sharpen it anymore so I definitely needed a new one! Of course, you could always buy four magazines to pick up all four products at a mere cost of £4... but I'm really happy with just the black eyeliner pencil for now :)

W7 Bali Lip & Cheek Stain Review: A Benetint Dupe?

W7 A Hint Of Bali Lip & Cheek Stain Review - A Benefit Benetint Makeup Dupe

Benefit's Benetint Lip and Cheek Stain is probably regarded by many as the best lip and cheek stain around but it's certainly not the cheapest at £24.50 for 12.5 ml! Today, I have a wonderful Benetint dupe from cheap makeup brand W7 that's a bargain at only £3.49 for 10ml.

The W7 A Hint of Bali Lip & Cheek Stain gives skin a healthy glow and adds slight hint of tint to the lips with it's timeless rosy red colour.

W7 A Hint of Bali Lip & Cheek Stain Swathes - The Best Lip & Cheek Stain?
W7 A Hint Of Bali Lip & Cheek Stain Swathes - The Best Cheek & Lip Stain?

This is a dual purpose product as it can be used as a liquid blush and a liquid lip stain. Since my makeup bag is full to bursting already, I appreciate the dual functionality of this lip and cheek stain as it's effectively two products in one.

Lip Stain...

As a lip stain, this works well as a long lasting and natural looking, barely there lip colour. I like to wear this on minimal makeup days were I don't want to have to top up my lipstick every 2 hours!

Cheek stain...

As a cheek stain, it's easy to apply with the built in brush applicator. Like most cheek stains, after applying, it needs to be blended out immediately with a fingertip using a gentle dabbing motions before it dries down to a long lasting finish. Liquid blushers like this have a reputation for being difficult to work with but I've found it just takes a little practice, especially if you're not used to using liquid cheek stains. One thing I did find out the hard way is that it's important to apply this before any powder as otherwise the powder will go patchy! I also like to apply this as a base for my powder blusher on those full makeup days.

This is one of the best liquid lip and cheek stains I've ever tried and I'm always happy to find good quality, on trend cheap makeup. It's an ideal makeup staple for summer and because it's a stain, it should hold up pretty well even in the hot and sunny climate that we should have here in the UK soon!

What's the best lip and cheek stain you've tried?

FIVE RIMMEL MAKEUP Products for a FIVER! Poundland HAUL!

I always enjoy shopping in Poundland as they get new makeup stock in quite regularly and if you happen to pop in at the right time, you can get some really great bargains.

Poundland often sell products from popular drugstore makeup brands such as Rimmel, L'Oreal and Maybelline in addition to other lesser known brands, some foreign brands and more recently, their own Makeup Gallery brand.

I was lucky enough to find a few lovely makeup bargains from Rimmel in Poundland recently and I was delighted to pick up FIVE RIMMEL MAKEUP Products for a FIVER!

Rimmel London Moisture Renew Lipstick // 470 Glam Plum Fulham // 4g // RRP £6.49 // Only £1! // SAVING £ 5.49

This is a gorgeous red plum lipstick that feels buttery smooth, has great pigmentation and even smells nice!

Rimmel London Lasting Finish By Kate Moss Lipstick // 02 // 4g // RRP £5.49 // Only £1! //SAVING £4.49

This is a beautiful lipstick from the popular Kate Moss line. It's a gorgeous hot pink shade that leans slightly towards coral. Once again, the pigmentation is really good and the formula feels smooth and creamy.

Rimmel London Scandaleyes Eye Shadow Stick // 011 Bluffing // RRP £4.49 //  Only £1! // SAVING £3.49

I'm not usually a massive fan of cream eye shadow type products but this is something that I though I would try as it was only £1 and I'm happy to say that I do like it! This makes a great quick an easy one colour eye shadow and it also works quite well as a cream base for other neutral eye shadows. This colour is a lovely, on trend metallic bronze shade which has great colour pay-off and it well on my eyelids without creasing which is always a plus!

Rimmel London Salon Pro Nail Polish // 421 Clearly Clear // 12ml // RRP £4.49 //  Only £1! // SAVING £3.49

I can't get enough of clear nail polish as it's so useful as a base / top coat, it always looks nice on it's own and it's also great for painting over fashion jewellery rings to help prevent that dreaded 'green finger syndrome'! I haven't tried this yet but I've heard good things about it and the inclusion of Lycra as an ingredient sounds seriously interesting!

Rimmel London Glam Eyes HD Eye Shadow Quad // 002 English Oak // RRP £4.99 //  Only £1! // SAVING £3.99

I've passed up on these types of quads when I've seen them in Poundland before as I feel that although the Union Jack design is cute, it's also very impractical as some of the shades are compacted into tiny triangles which are very hard to get at with an eye shadow brush! However, because this was such a nice neutral palette, I decided to try it as I very much enjoy wearing these types of shades at the moment. The pigmentation on these is fabulous once again and they blend well too. All of the shades are shimmery and it would have been nice to have a matte shade in there too but this is still a very nice little eye shadow palette overall!

A lot of the branded drugstore makeup that Poundland sells is often still current and available from places like Boots and Superdrug for 3, 4, or even 5 times the price!

I think that purchasing makeup from Poundland is a great way to buy makeup on a budget and build up your makeup collection without spending a fortune.

So there you go, FIVE RIMMEL MAKEUP products for a FIVER! As you can see, I saved a great deal off the RRP on all of these products and collectively I managed to save £20.95 in total which is great!

Do you or would you ever consider buying makeup / toiletries from Pound Shops?
