JĀSÖN Vitamin E 5,000 I.U. Skin Oil Review

JĀSÖN Vitamin E 5,000 I.U. Skin Oil Review

Skin oils have surely got to be one of the best products to incorporate into a skin care routine around this time of year.

Every year, without fail, the winter months take their toll on my skin. The cold weather leaves my skin prone to dryness and creates patches of flaky, irritated skin. Not only can this look unsightly, it can also feel itchy and uncomfortable too. When my skin is in this sore state, I need to use highly moisturising yet gentle products.

Enter this Vitamin E skin oil from natural beauty brand JĀSÖN which is a product I have been enjoying a lot recently. This oil is actually so much more than just a Vitamin E Oil as it contains a variety of different skin loving oils which I'll talk about later.

I've used this oil in a few different ways but I've most regularly used it as an overnight treatment. I've been applying this to my face most nights before bed and by the time I wake up, my skin feels supple and hydrated. It works well alone and when my skin needs an extra moisture hit, I simply apply this oil first and then pop on my regular night moisturiser over the top.

I have used this around my eyes too and it's very gentle. This makes a nice eye treatment as the oils keep fine lines plumped out and Vitamin E is a great ingredient for conditioning eyelashes.

This is such a versatile product and can be used on your body or hands which is especially great if you have any stubborn dry patches of skin. For intensive all over body care, you can mix this with your usual moisturiser when your skin is in need of more intensive hydration. Even my nails love this oil as they can be prone to dryness around this time of year as well.

I absolutely have to mention how good this smells as the sweetness of the almond oil really comes through and reminds me so much of Bakewell tarts and Battenburg cake!

I'm really impressed by the lovely ingredients in this product and it is made with a gorgeous array of oils all mixed together including: Sunflower Seed Oil, Safflower Seed Oil, Rice Bran Oil, Sweet Almond Oil, Apricot Kernal Oil, Avocado Oil, Wheat Germ Oil and of course, Vitamin E.

Although this product is made from many different oils, I don't think it's overly greasy and it does absorb into my skin pretty quickly.

The packaging is simple yet effective. I'm delighted to see that this product carries the leaping bunny logo meaning it is definitely cruelty free and that is always good to know.

This little skin loving Vitamin E oil from JĀSÖN is something that I will continue to reach for regularly, particularly throughout the rest of Winter. I've found that it really does what it claims to do and it's a pleasure to use. Overall, I think that this is a lovely and versatile skin care resource.

JĀSÖN Vitamin E 5,000 I.U. Skin Oil (118ml) is available here for £5.69 (Usual Price: £6.89).

Have you ever used a skin oil before?

Dermalogica Clear Start Breakout Clearing Cooling Masque

When it comes to skin care, there's not really a brand I can think of that gets more recognition for the quality of its products than Dermalogica. As a budget beauty blogger,  I can't help but notice that Dermalogica is on the pricier side of the skin care spectrum but with that being said, I'm not against high-end products by any means, I just expect them to perform better than their lower priced counterparts.

After hearing so many good things about Dermalogica products in general, I've been growing ever more curious and eager to try a product or two from them. But given that Dermalogica is a brand that offers a wide variety of not only individual products, but also entire skin care systems targeted towards specific skin care concerns, choosing just one or two products from a wealth of appealing possibilities is not an easy task! When there are a lot of potential products to choose from, it's always nice to be able to test out several products of interest before making any final decision to commit to a particular product.

Earlier this year, I was struggling with some serious acne breakouts and my experiences have left me on a mission to discover more skin care products that can reduce both the frequency and severity of my acne breakouts as much as possible. The Clear Start Breakout Clearing Cooling Masque from Dermalogica appealed to me as it sounds just the sort of product that my skin could potentially benefit from.

The mask claims to soothe irritation and clear skin. It contains 2% salicylic acid as the active ingredient so I would say that the skin clearing claims seem to be justified. My skin responds very well to salicylic acid and if I use products that contain enough of it, often enough, my skin clears up and I only get the occasional breakout. This mask also contains camphor which is probably what gives it the lovely cooling, soothing menthol sensation on the skin together with the aloe vera which is cooling and good at reducing redness / irritation.

Something else that really strikes me about this face mask is the phenomenal range of quality ingredients that reads almost like something from a recipe book rather than the back of a beauty product! For instance, it contains rosemary, thyme, tumerick, basil, aloe vera and liquorice.

This face mask has a gel-like texture that is lightweight and easily absorbed. A thin, slightly sticky veneer is all that remains on the skin until it is rinsed off. There is a distinct menthol / herbal type of fragrance to this face mask that is very reminiscent of Vicks VapoRub. Personally, this is a fragrance that I enjoy but it may be a little bit off-putting for some people.

I think that this face mask does a good job of managing current acne breakouts, reducing the incidence of future breakouts as well as soothing and refreshing irritated skin. I can't really say how well this mask works with continued use but based on my first impressions from the couple of sample sachets I've tried, I would say it would more than likely be very useful for keeping skin clear in the long run, especially for those of us who already know that our skin responds well to a salicylic acid.

The Dermalogica Clear Start Breakout Clearing Cooling Mask is available from Pure Beauty.

Dare to Wear? £1 Perfume

Miss Sporty Crush On You Freesia & Violet Petals Accord EDT Fragrance

I recently found some Miss Sporty EDT sprays in my Local Bargain Buys for £1 and decided to pick one up to try out. I've purchased a few other £1 perfumes in the past and to be honest, I've usually been pleasantly surprised by them.

I also thought that this one should be better than most other £1 perfumes in theory at least because it's a branded Miss Sporty product from Coty and Coty has been producing fragrances since 1904. It's also the company behind a lot of popular celebrity fragrances including Beyonce and Lady Gaga.

So, what do I think of this perfume...

There were four different scents to choose from including Orange Blossom & White Musk, Fresh Rose & Peach, Sparkling Mimosa & Jasmine and Freesia & Violet Petals.

I picked up Freesia & Violet Petals and I have to say, it's not at all bad! For £1, you get a generous amount of product (100ml) and the fragrance actually lasts quite well on me. I don't think this is something I would wear when going anywhere special but when I'm just heading to work or going to run some errands, it's perfect to spritz on. It's also something I can happily throw in my handbag and not worry about it as let's face it, who cares if it gets lost or broken as it's as cheap as chips to replace! Another potential use for this fragrance is as a room spray or even a bathroom spray. Home air fresheners are usually a lot more expensive and yet this works just as well and probably smells better in my opinion!

So, that's really all I have to say about this! To surmise, it's quite a nice cheap EDT spray made by a world renowned fragrance producer that can function as either a perfume or home fragrance. Not bad at all for £1.

Would you ever dare to wear a £1 perfume?

Review I Soap & Glory Off Your Face Wipes

Soap & Glory Off Your Face Wipes

Face wipes have a terrible reputation within the beauty community and it's easy to see why: A face wipe usually isn't enough to remove all of that makeup, dirt and grime from out faces. However, face wipes still play a big part in my cleansing routine! Now, before you get too horrified by this confession, allow me to explain why I still like to use face wipes and then I can talk to you about these little beauties from Soap and Glory...

I like to use face wipes as a 'first cleanse' to get the bulk of my face makeup off along with most of the dirt and grime that may have collected on my face throughout the day. This means that when I go in for a second cleanse using something like a cleansing bar, balm or oil, I can thoroughly clean out my pores. I almost never use face wipes to remove eye makeup as even those ones that claim to be able to remove waterproof makeup just don't do the job without a lot of unnecessary rubbing and tugging around the delicate eye area. There are also those rare occasions when I'm too tired to do a proper evening cleanse (shock, horror) so I'd rather take off the bulk of my face makeup with a wipe than sleep in a full face of makeup! ( I know, I'm a terrible beauty blogger!)

Anyway, now I've got that off my chest (phew) I can talk about these Off Your Face Cleansing Wipes from Soap and Glory. First of all, I love the name! And the pink packaging and retro photograph is adorable.

These face wipes are described as "3-In-1 Cleansing & Toning Daily Purifying Cloths... will cleanse, tone and - if you employ a little bit of pressure - exfoliate your face."

These wipes do an impressive job of removing makeup. Seriously, in just one swipe, they get so much off! They're quite moist, which is always a good thing, and the cloths themselves are cotton soft. They have a fruity fragrance that will probably evoke mixed opinions: I don't personally mind it, but I don't exactly love it either! The wipes have a little honeycomb-like textured pattern on them which I think is what gives them their exfoliating properties. The packet is resealable (as you would expect) and the sticker seems to work well at preventing the wipes from drying out. Once I've opened a packet of wipes, I usually like to store them upside down so that the wipes at the top are always nice and moist.

Although these wipes are created for all skin types, I would suggest that they may be unsuited to some people with sensitive skin as they do contain fragrance, alcohol and acidic fruit extracts. I haven't personally experienced any skin irritation but my skin isn't incredibly sensitive. I haven't used these wipes around my eye area as like I mentioned above, I don't use face wipes to remove eye makeup. However, again due to the fragrance, I would imagine that these wipes could sting some people's eyes.

This pack retails for £4.50 from Boots and contains 25 wipes, giving an average cost per wipe of £0.18. I actually got these wipes as part of a big value Christmas set and I wouldn't repurchase these again without some kind of deal. I'd probably stock up during a 3-4-2 offer and get three packets for £9.00 which brings the average cost per wipe down to £0.12.

Overall, I think that these are lovely face wipes. They're a bit more of a indulgent treat than most other face wipes I've used but what else have we come to expect from Soap & Glory if not a spot of indulgent pampering!? I will look forward to using these again in the future but in the meantime, I'll stick to my No.7 quick thinking wipes that can be purchased for £2.00 with a £5.00 No.7 skin care voucher. Failing that, baby wipes always do the job and they're as cheap as chips!

Do you use face wipes as part of your skin care routine and have you ever tried the Off Your Face Wipes from Soap & Glory?

Review I Lemon Cream Yankee Candle

Lemon Cream Yankee Candle

Today, I have another Yankee Candle Votive Review! This time, I'm talking about the gorgeous Simply Home Lemon Cream fragrance. You can see some of my other Yankee candle reviews here and here.

This Candle's fragrance is described as being "...like a macaroon, soft chewy and creamy lemon..." Sounds delicious, right?! The scent is quite complex and consists of three main fragrance layers: "gingerbread, french vanilla & icing sugar with fresh, floral lemon."

This votive has one of the strongest fragrances I've found among Yankee Candles so far. Right from the moment I bought this and brought it home, it made the car and the living room smell delicious! Burning it just takes the fragrance to a whole new level but it's not overpowering either. These small samplers can actually last up to 15 hours, especially if you burn them in a purpose made votive holder like I always do! 15 hours is actually a very impressive amount of burn time for such a small candle!

The Yankee Candle Simply Home range was actually designed to be exclusive to the US market but some of the fragrances have made their way to Europe and the UK in recent years. I'm delighted with this gorgeous Lemon Cream Yankee Candle but repurchasing it might be a slight problem as I haven't seen it available in many places. I bought this one from Clinton Cards during a 'Candle of the Month' offer and I've started to notice that lots of Yankee Candle retailers are running Candle of the Month promotions where you can save 25% off the RRP of a selected fragrance of the month. This usually means you will pay about £1.35 per sampler rather than £1.80, saving a modest £0.45. Not a huge saving I know, but remember: If you look after the pennies, the pounds will take care of themselves!

I love this candle, it's absolutely gorgeous and definitely one for lovers of sweet foodie fragrances like myself! I would recommend giving it a try if you see it in any shops near you as I think you'll be pleasantly surprised by this delicious little candle.

Have you ever tried the Lemon Cream Yankee Candle and what Yankee Candle fragrance do you think I should try next?
