Here in the UK, Spring has already Sprung (20th March) and the official start of Summer (21st June) is not too far away! With a change in seasons often comes a change in beauty, fashion and lifestyle trends. This often provides a great excuse to up date our makeup bags and wardrobes with some new purchases and also inspires many of us to go rummaging through our draws and closets in the hope of rediscovering some old favorites that may be bang on trend once again! 

Miners Cosmetics have taken inspiration from the SS14 looks seen on the catwalk and incorporated these trends into the creation of a brilliant little SS14 capsule makeup collection!

Miners Cosmetics Matte Effect Lipstick in Wonderland Wear Time and Finish

I’m a big fan of matte lipsticks and bright orange / coral shades are some of my favorites! They’re great for adding a pop of colour and the matte texture creates a more wearable look during the daytime. I also love the versatility of matte lipsticks as they can easily be transformed into a gloss finish with a slick of Elizabeth Arden 8 Hour Cream or even Vaseline over the top which is perfect for taking your look from day to night! 

Matte lipsticks can be a little drying on the lips and also tend to show up any dry skin so it’s a good idea to gently exfoliate your lips first with either a lip scrub or a damp toothbrush. I also like to apply some lip balm first to keep my lips feeling moisturized. As you can see from the picture above, when I first applied this lipstick over lip balm, it was quite creamy but it dried to a matte texture and after 7 hours wear it had stayed on my lips really well and only started to wear away in the corners of my mouth.

If a bright lip isn’t your thing, how about bright nails? Neon seems to be a big trend in fashion at the moment and there are lots of super bright clothes in the shops so a super bright nail polish will help to work that trend even further! Now is the time many of us are swapping out out boots for sandals so maybe it’s time for a little pedicure too! I love this colour, even though its a super bright hot pink, it actually looks quite sophisticated and wearable on the nails. 

The brush and formula is easy to work with, the colour is opaque in one coat (amazing!) and it dries pretty quickly to a glossy finish. Typically, nail polish doesn’t last very long on me at all but I topped this with Seche Vite and was happy to find it stayed chip free for a couple of days. I’ll defiantly be wearing this a lot over the next few months! 

Waterproof mascara is that most quintessential of summer makeup products! Makeup has a tendency to melt in humidity, skin has a tendency to sweat in heat and people enjoy going for a splash around in the pool when its hot to cool down! With all of the above factors to consider, it’s not suprising that waterproof mascara is a must for any girl out and about soaking up the summer sunshine!  

I really like this mascara as it didn’t make  my eyelashes feel crispy like some waterproof mascaras tend to, and it was also quite easy to remove with my regular ASDA Young Skin eye makeup remover. It did add colour, definition, curl and some length but I didn’t find it very volumising or thickening.
