Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer in Fair 1 Review

The Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer is something that has been very popular within the blogosphere for years now. It’s often been touted as a dupe for the NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer which retails at over £20. With around £16-£18 price difference between the two, the Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer really does seem to have a lot of good things going for it.
The basics at a glance:

I have this concealer in the lightest shade which is Fair 1. I have very pale skin and find this to be a very good colour match.  This concealer is said to “conceal flaws and blemishes for up to 16 hours and be transfer resistant.” I do find this concealer to be very long wearing. It usually lasts all day on me and I always set it with powder which increases the wear time further. The formula is quite thick and quick drying which can be both a good thing as well as a bad thing!

This concealer has amazing coverage for a drugstore product. It does a wonderful job of concealing dark under eye circles. However, it is prone to settling into any fine lines and exaggerating their appearance which is probably due to the thick and dryish consistency. Shaking the product before use seems to even out the consistency and make it cling to fine lines a little less. Also, using an eyelid primer under the eye area can help, as can setting the concealer with a very finely milled powder, such as the e.l.f HD undereye setting powder.

I find that this works well both under and over foundation but if I want to apply this over foundation and have it seamlessly blend in, I mix half and half concealer with foundation. Although this does reduce the coverage a little, it gives a more natural look.

This does a wonderful job of concealing blemishes without drawing any further attention to them as some concealers seem to. The formula is buildable and for ultimate coverage, apply a finely milled loose before and between every layer of concealer. I find this works wonders and can cover up a multitude of sins for those occasions where you want that “full coverage with no visible flaws” kind of look.

Another small thing to note about this product is that the black writing on the packaging does completely rub off over time.

I really enjoy using this concealer as the coverage, shade and wear time is wonderful. Yes, it can be a little dry and sink into fine lines which can be frustrating at times but if you play around with it enough, it’s likely that you will find a way to make it work for you. I use this both under my eyes and over blemishes but even if you only use this over blemishes, it’s well worth it in my opinion. I have repurchased this before and will continue to repurchase this again and again.

Have you tried this cult classic drugstore concealer?
