Review I The Body Shop Shea Body Butter

The Body Shop Shea Body Butter
The Body Shop Shea Body Butter

I haven’t tried a great deal of products from The Body Shop yet but I have to say that I’ve loved everything I have tried so far. And this Shea Body Butter is no exception!

If like me, you’re wondering what exactly Shea butter is, I’ve discovered it’s actually a fat that comes from the nut of the African Shea tree.  It’s known to be super moisturising and can work wonders for very dry skin.
The basics at a glance:

Packaging: Round plastic tub
Designed for: The body / very dry skin
Consistency: A thick white cream
Scent: Shea Butter (Nutty!)
Size: 50 ml / 200 ml
Price: £5 / £13
Available from: The Body Shop

The Body Shop Body Butters are usually very well reviewed but there are so many varieties to choose from that inevitably, they’re all a little bit different and some varieties will suit certain people more than others.

This Shea Butter Body Butter has a gorgeous nutty scent that really comes alive when applied to the skin. I actually didn’t know how good Shea Butter smells until I tried this! The consistency is a thick, rich and buttery cream but it’s suprisingly non-greasy. In fact, this absorbs into the skin very well indeed without leaving an oily residue. I love the way that it practically melts into my skin and instantly relieves any dryness.

A little bit of this does go a long way but since I only have the 50 ml size and not the 200 ml tub, I’m rationing this out and only using it where I need it most. It’s great for all the typical really dry places such as knees, elbows and feet but recently I’ve been experiencing a very dry neck (I know, random!) and this body butter has been working a treat at sorting out that awful itchy, flaky dryness.

I’ve also been enjoying using this as a nourishing hand cream and it works extremely well and is small enough to carry around with me in my handbag. This product is said to provide 24 hr moisturisation and I have to say that it’s one of the few products I’ve ever tried that lives up to a claim like that! I’m really impressed with this little beauty and I’m eager to try more of the Body Shop Body Butters in the near future.

As a little side note, I have to say that regardless of how amazing these body butters are, I don’t think I’d ever pay full price for one. The Body Shop frequently has massive offers on, both in-store and online, such as 40% off everything. So I would personally always wait to purchase at a time when there was a significant discount available.

I’m super pleased with this little beauty and I would definitely repurchase this again at the right price.

Have you tried a Body Shop Body Butter yet?

  1. I was always a HUGE fan of Body Shop body butters but over the last 12 months or so whenever I use one I breakout in this awful rash over my stomach! I don't know if they've changed the formula or my skin is just having a moment but it's so frustrating! Body Shop body butters are so thick and lovely, I miss them!
