Review I OPI ‘I’m Feeling Sashy’ Nail Lacquer

OPI 'I'm Feeling Sashy' Nail Lacquer

OPI Nail lacquer is the darling of the nail polish world and it’s easy to see why. The gorgeous shades are easy to apply and the longwearing formula is also something that makes OPI stand out as one of the best nail polish brands around. OPI nail lacquer usually retails for £11.50 here in the UK which is definitely a high end price tag. But the good news is, OPI nail lacquers can sometimes be picked up at a majorly discounted price once the shades are no longer part of any current collections.

OPI release a lot of limited edition nail lacquers as part of their seasonal and themed collections. Some of these shades don’t always sell out completely and demand for some shades may not be as high as expected. This makes them fairly redundant once the next seasonal release or themed collection has come out. These left over nail lacquers can sometimes be found for sale a year or so later from discount cosmetics retailers who recognise they’re saleability, albeit usually at a very reduced price.

This OPI Nail Lacquer in the shade ‘I’m Feeling Sashy’ was released a year ago in Autumn 2013 as part of the OPI Miss Universe 2013 Collection. As it’s not a current release anymore, it was massively discounted to £1.99 from it’s original £11.50 RRP which is over an 80% discount. Of course, the formula is still perfect because it’s brand new and nail polish lasts for years. Since this was an Autumnal release, the shades are very much in keeping with the current season.

OPI 'I'm Feeling Sashy' Nail Lacquer

OPI nail lacquers all have that unmistakable curvacious glass bottle design and they look super professional. They also contain a ball bearing to make it easier to mix the formula prior to application. But did you know that it’s better to roll nail polish rather than to shake it in order to avoid getting those annoying little air bubbles
It applies easily as the formula is neither too runny or too thick. This OPI Nail Lacquer features their custom ProWide brush design which is said to give the ultimate application. The brush is long, wide and flexible and three strokes are enough for each nail. The finish is opaque within two coats. It dries relatively quickly to a glossy finish. OPI nail lacquer is one of the longest lasting nail polish formulas I’ve tried and it usually stays chip free for several days after application, with or without a top coat, which is amazing for me as my polish is normally lucky to last a day without chipping.
The shade ‘I’m Feeling Shashy’ is a dusty greyed purple with a cream finish which could probably be quite accurately described as ‘grurple’ (grey-purple). It looks slightly darker on my nails than I expected from looking at the colour in the bottle and swatches online but it is very Fall appropriate. This does remind me a little of the Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure in 404 Greige Gardens (see my NOTD post here) except this OPI one is darker and has a more creamy finish. I think that this is something I’ll be wearing a lot throughout Autumn.

  2. What a weird name for a shade. I quite often see discounted OPI floating around, and some of the colours are well worth snapping up at a much more affordable price. It's such a pretty, really wintery colour too. Gorgeous!
