Review I Maybelline Color Shock Colossal Volum’ Mascara

Maybelline Color Shock Colossal Volum' Mascara Electric Teal or Turquoise Electric

Maybelline mascaras are well loved in the blogoshpere but some of them aren’t so easy to get hold of here in the UK. Last summer, the Colossal Volum’ Color shock range came to the UK in two different shades; Electric Blue and Electric Teal. There was also a third shade in the same range that never made it to the UK which was called Electric Purple.

I was pleased with myself when I stumbled across the Electric Teal mascara in my local 99p store. Admittedly, I don’t have the most tremendous need or use for a turquoise mascara (does anybody?!) but at 99p, I knew I could make some space for it in my makeup collection and give it some love (occasionally)!

What it is: The Maybelline Colossal Volum’ Express Color Shock Mascara in Electric Teal (phew, that’s a mouthful) contains “collagen and thickening agents to provide maximum volume. The color is created using light catching and concentrated ultra-saturated electric pigments to provide shocking color. The plush brush charges lashes with 9 times more volume.”
Does anyone else think that Maybelline has ‘a way with words’?!

This mascara has been a nice introduction to the Maybelline Colossal Volum’ Express range. This is a limited edition colour from SS13 that is not part of their permanent collection. I really like the bright eye catching packaging and the vibrant mascara shades are great for creating attention grabbing eye makeup looks.

The brush is nice to work with as it’s neither too big nor small (it’s Goldilock’s size!) and I find the formula quite thick but neither too wet nor too dry. The spoolie brush itself is fantastic as the plentiful and long natural bristles do a good job of coating and separating lashes without clumping. This mascara is buildable and adds a good amount of volume within a few coats. It does last all day on my lashes without smudging or flaking and when I’m wearing this mascara, my lashes don’t feel hard or crunchy. It’s also pretty easy to remove with my regular water based eye makeup remover.

Are you a fan of colourful mascara?
