Review I Biona Organic Raw Coconut Oil

Biona Organic Raw Coconut Oil

I first discovered Coconut Oil a couple of years ago and one of the things I immediately liked the most about it was it’s versatility. In fact, I’m still discovering new ways of using it, even now!
This large 400g jar of Biona Organic Coconut Oil is the best version I’ve tried to date. I didn’t think of trying a Coconut Oil in a jar like this previously as it seems like a product more suited towards cooking purposes. However, this is in fact ideal for beauty applications! It’s completely natural and contains 100% cold-pressed, unrefined organic Coconut Oil which is exactly what you want from a high quality Coconut Oil! I also think it’s great to know that a product like this is all natural.

This coconut oil smells just like real coconut and that is a fragrance I adore! At room temperature, the consistency is relatively soft so it can easily be scooped out of the jar using a spoon. It melts into a liquid on contact with skin meaning that there isn’t any need to heat it up first like a lot of other coconut oils I’ve tried.

The basics at a glance:

Packaging: Glass Jar with metal screw lid
Designed for: Everything from cooking to skincare!
Consistency: Solid but melts to a liquid
Scent: Coconut
Size: 400g
Price: Β£8.49
Available from: Ocado

Coconut Oil has a multitude of uses so I’ve decided to share my top 5 beauty applications with you!

Facial Cleanser

Coconut Oil can be used as a cleanser as it breaks down makeup and excess oils. There are some people who can use coconut oil as their daily cleanser and they don’t need to apply moisturiser afterwards as the coconut oil itself doesn’t dry skin out in the same way as a lot of cleansers do.

Eye makeup Remover

Coconut Oil gently breaks down even the most stubborn eye makeup and also conditions the delicate skin around the eye area.

Eye lash conditioner / growth

Coconut Oil is good at moisturizing and softening eyelashes which can sometimes become brittle and snap off due to regular use of mascara. It also works wonders for some people as an eyelash growth serum and if it works for you, it makes a brilliant budget alternative to expensive lash growth serums!

Facial Moisturiser

Coconut Oil works wonderfully for me as a facial moisturiser. I like to use this at night whenever my skin feels in need of some intensive nourishment. It’s great for dealing with any stubborn patches of dry skin. On a slightly negative note, Coconut Oil is regarded as comedogenic which means it can clog pores and may lead to blackheads in some people but I haven’t had any problems with that myself. In fact, in some people it can reduce acne because it contains compounds that block acne bacteria from developing. You only need to use the most tiny amount of this as a little bit really does go a long way and with a 400g jar, this could possibly be the most cost effective moisturiser ever!

Hair Mask

Using Coconut Oil as an overnight hair mask was how I first got into using Coconut Oil. This method does leave hair feeling super soft and nourished but the obvious downside is that it’s quite time consuming and messy to be regularly leaving on your hair over night. I now prefer to apply a small amount to the ends of my hair an hour or two prior to washing it to help keep those dreaded split ends at bay!

So, overall this Biona Coconut Oil is a high quality, cost effective and versatile product!

I’d love to know if you’ve tried using coconut oil before and what you like to use it for!
