Fun Makeup & Beauty Blog Poll Q&A

Makeup & Beauty Blog Poll Fun

Every week, the lovely Karen from Makeup and Beauty Blog posts a fun little Beauty Blog Poll for her readers to enjoy.

Her lighthearted weekly polls are actually more like amusing little questionnaires in which she poses inquisitive and creative questions to both herself and her readers.

She’s been posting a fun little beauty blog poll every week for the past 10 years! How incredible is that?! These posts are honestly so much fun to read and what’s more, loads of her readers get involved with posting their own answers down in the comments section.

There are some really curious and unique questions and answers every week; Karen somehow manages to keep coming up with new stuff to ask, even after a decade!

I thought I’d share my answers to this week’s fun little Makeup & Beauty Blog poll with you all in this post.

Here goes….

Makeup & Beauty Blog Poll: My Answers to Karen’s Questions.

Q1. A makeup brush you use every day?

A1. Not a makeup brush exactly, but still a sort of brush-like alternative that I use everyday would have to be…my hands! Honestly, you can do a lot with your fingers when it comes to applying makeup. Plus, they’ll always be hygienically clean and ready to use if you just give them a wash with something antibacterial beforehand. Oh, and did I mention that this also means fewer makeup brush washing marathons on the weekend! #bonus

Q2. If you could have any gallon-sized bottle of any bath/shower product for free (like a shampoo, conditioner, body wash, or whatever you can think of), what would choose?

A2. I find that conditioner is always needed, especially since I have long hair that goes all the way down to my booty, I do get through a lot of hair conditioner so a gallon of it would actually be very useful to me. However, I’m a sucker for novelty so personally, I’m going to have to abandon the sensible hair conditioner idea in favour of something a little bit more silly! I’d love to have a gallon of the Lush Snow Fairy shower gel to last me all year round! I think that would be a really cool thing to have but I don’t even think I could use that much shower gel! I would have to donate some of it to my friends!I’m sure they’d all just hate that, right?!

Q3. Are you allergic to anything?

A3. Yes! Walnuts!! It’s a shame that my favourite cake is coffee cake and so many coffee cakes are actually coffee and walnut cakes… So, needless to say, I don’t get to eat my favourite cake all that often! Isn’t that just tragic?! I suppose you could also say I’m allergic to any type of bullying too. I absolutely can’t stand people being unkind to one another, especially when it’s totally uncalled for or when somebody is just abusing a position of power that they hold over somebody. Is it really so hard to treat others as you would like to be treated yourself? Apparently, the basic principle of common decency doesn’t mean a lot to some people.

Q4. Best/worst Halloween candy?

A4. My favourite Halloween candy is Treacle Toffee, also known as Bonfire Toffee! My worst Halloween candies are chocolate limes! Yuk! Chocolate with lime tastes like such an awful combination to me!

Q5. Something you miss from “the good old days”?

A5. I liked being able to switch off from things more easily. These days, technology and the Internet means there’s always something to be doing, which is nice except for when you start to feel like you should always be doing something!

Our heads must get so frazzled from the almost constant stream of new information that we have to process and digest! I think most of us can get stressed out sometimes simply as a result of our brains being overloaded, overworked and overstimulated!

In fact, I think a lot of us are actually more stressed out these days simply because of all the extra demands placed on our time and attention in this modern era of digital technology that can make us feel like we have to be switched on 24/7.

It’s easy to pinpoint and appreciate the many ways in which technology and the Internet have made our lives easier. But there are other, more nuanced ways that these advancements have made our lives harder in some respects. It’s easy to overlook the downsides because we appreciate the positive advantages so much that technology and the Internet have brought us. I do think that it’s important to acknowledge the negative aspects of something, even if that thing has brought much good into our lives.

In my opinion, It’s usually wise to form a balanced and realistic viewpoint when considering a large and complex subject. Trade-offs usually exist and there’s no such thing as a free lunch!

The End!

Phew! I’m all done now! I hope you enjoyed reading my answers to Karen’s weekly Makeup & Beauty Blog Poll! You can find her original post here.

  1. I was worried these questions would all be about beauty, and I don’t wear makeup! I would love a gallon of the Soap and Glory body wash : the original pink scent. I’m allergic to house dust mite. I miss having real post and seeing proper handwriting. Emails are useful but I still like snail mail and so I’m trying to send more. Marie XX

    1. Thanks for your lovely comment Marie! I mainly blog about beauty and buying bargains but I like to include other topics as well.

The original S&G body wash is sooo good! I need to start using it again now that you’ve reminded me about how much I used to love it!

A dust mite allergy must be a real pain to live with. I’m sorry you have to deal with that. Do you have to clean, dust and hoover more often than most people do just to keep the dust mites away?

Handwritten correspondence is almost unheard of these days! I wonder if future generations will even continue to be taught how to write by hand or just how to type? That’s a scary thought, isn’t it!

      1. 🤗 luckily my allergy is controlled. I had desensitising injections when I was younger. My Mum though had to damp dust the whole house every single day when my allergy was at its worst. I can’t have feather pillows or anything still but I prefer synthetic anyway. Mx

        1. So happy you got it under control! Your poor mamma having to damp dust every day! Haha Glad you know what works for you and I also prefer synthetic pillows. They can usually go in the washer too which helps keep them fresh and gets rid of some dust mites. It’s so strange to think about how they’re everywhere but we just can’t see them! Take care Marie! x

  2. Walnuts are one of my favorites actually! It’s funny because I am in that age group that grew up with this technology but it can def be overwhelming to process! Loved reading this and learning more about you Hanna 😍

    1. Hi Geraldine!
Thanks for visiting and commenting on my blog once again!
I can actually remember the time before technology was everywhere so I think I’m not as accustomed to it as people like yourself who grew up with it always being there.
I’m a technology geek at heart though and I do love it! Haha

  3. I’ve never had treacle toffee… But it sounds soooo lovely, wow! ❤ Also, I totally get what you mean about applying makeup with your hands. It is honestly so effective! I feel like I have a lot more control when I use my fingers, rather than a brush. I've invested in a pretty awesome set of brushes by Spectrum recently so have been using these all the time, but I still like to touch up with my fingers from time to time. 🙂 Thanks for sharing this, this tag was honestly so fun to read! ❤ xoxo

    1. Hi Kay!

Bonfire Toffee is the bomb! 💣 It’s made with black treacle and has a lovely rich flavour.

Your new Spectrum brushes sound lovely! I’m sure they’re well worth reaching for everyday. But like you say, even fab brushes don’t completly replace the utility of a humble finger! I think body heat often works wonders for blending and touch-ups. That’s a thought, heated makeup brushes! I know Magnitone have just come out with a sonic makeup brush… What next! Lol

Thanks for visiting and commenting Kay!
