Born Pretty Makeup Haul, Shout-Out and Q&A

Born Pretty Bonnie Choice Makeup Haul, Shout-Out to Geraldine Talks & a Q&A!

Born Pretty Makeup Haul

Born Pretty is a budget-friendly, online makeup store that offers worldwide free shipping with no minimum spend. They launched in 2011 and initially just sold nail art products but they now have a huge range of makeup too. I first came across the company a few years ago and was initially quite impressed, as you can see from my Born Pretty makeup review and my Born Pretty lipstick review. So, let’s get into this Born Pretty Makeup Haul, shall we?

I decided that I already own enough ‘out-there’ makeup for now so instead of wild colours and textures, it was time to restock a few everyday basics. This small Born Pretty makeup haul is all from the newer Bonnie Choice range. I picked up 2 brow products and 1 base product.

Eyebrows

I’m typically a very low-maintenance eyebrow girl but I think my brows could probably use a bit more love. Recently, I haven’t been able to repurchase one of my all-time favourite brow products from Billion Dollar Brows. I’m hoping to up my eyebrow game a little with these two new brow products. One of them is an eyebrow gel and the other, an eyebrow pencil. I opted for darker shades as well since I’ve been brunette for ages but still keep using my old blonde eyebrow products!

Setting Powder

I’m a massive fan of the dewy skin look on other people but it’s honestly something that I am yet to master on myself as that type of makeup never seems to stay put for long. I need to fix my base in place with a healthy dose of powder to stop it from sliding off my face and lots of powder is not conducive to achieving that modelesque glossy look! A matte skin finish has long been my go-to and not through choice either but more simply due to my need for powder, and frankly, lots of it! Since powder is a necessity for me and dewy skin remains a mere pipe dream, I picked up a new loose powder to set my foundation and concealer with.

If like me, you get through a lot of face powder and want to explore other budget options, you can check out my review of this bargain £1 pressed powder from Miss Beauty London or my review of this £1.99 face powder from Boots’ Natural Collection.

The three items in this Born Pretty makeup haul are all from their Bonnie Choice range. I picked up the Loose Face Powder in shade #1 ($3.99) (links open in new tab), Eyebrow Pencil in shade 02 ($2.99) and the Waterproof Eyebrow Gel in shade 01 ($2.99).

I can let you know what I think of these products once I have properly tested them but I can already tell you that the packaging on my eyebrow gel is faulty as the pump doesn’t work at all, which is a shame.

Blogger Shout-Out

I was nominated by US lifestyle blogger Geraldine of Geraldine Talks (link opens in a new tab) to do an awards tag that it turns out I’m not actually eligible to participate in as it’s only for new bloggers but it was so lovely of her to include me among her list of nominees. I’m so touched by Geraldine’s kindness towards me and her continued support of my blog that I simply have to keep reciprocating as much as I can. So, I’m giving her a shout-out and including the Q&A part of her tag here simply as a thank you to her and also because she came up with some pretty great questions that I really want to answer and share with you all!

If you like Q&A’s, you can see my fun makeup & beauty blog poll post here or if you like tags, you can see my Autumn Tag post here.

Q&A time!

Geraldine’s Questions & My Answers

Q1). What is one of your biggest blogging goals for this month?

A1). To keep up to date with reading everyone else’s blogs and following their content across social media. I also want to continue replying to, and returning, every single blog comment that I receive!

Q2). Where do you see your blog 3 years from now?

A2). In three years time, I see my blog still quietly puttering along in much the same way it has done for the past six years of its existence. Ideally, I’d like to keep up with blogging more often and hopefully acquire a few more followers along the way. I’d like to remain active on social media as I only returned again recently after a break. I’d like to keep making the occasional Youtube video as well. Ultimately, I’d love to give my little website a total redesign but that’s a big and daunting project to take on with my limited knowledge of coding. Sometimes, I still feel like I’m readjusting and relearning the technical side of blogging after migrating from Blogger to WordPress, nearly 2 years ago now! It’s been a steep learning curve so far.

Q3). If you weren’t blogging right now, what would you be doing?

A3). Hmmm… It could be anything really. Most likely it would be trying out a new recipe, reading something or playing with makeup.

Q4). If you could tame any animal in the world to be your pet, what would it be?

A). A panda. They seem pretty tame already but they would require lots of special care and resources which would be challenging but it would all be worth it, I’m sure. I cannot believe how few of these beautiful creatures are left in our world and I really don’t want this special animal to ever cease to exist but sadly, things aren’t looking good for these most gentle of bears…

Q5). Would you rather never use social media sites / apps again or never watch another movie or TV show?

A). Well this is another tough one but I’d have to say, I’d rather never watch a movie or TV show again. I think social media is the future and I want to be able to participate in it as ultimately,  I think it may be pretty much essential in everybody’s lives. I say that because the way social media has been going, it just keeps getting bigger and I just can’t see that trend changing any time soon. TV and films are amazing but there are also new forms of media like YouTube and live streaming that are taking up more of our attention these days.

Q6). Did you ever have a weird dream? If so, what was it about?

A). Yes, I’ve had many weird dreams! I kept dreaming that my teeth all fell out at one point. My weird dreams often tend to recur frequently, which is pretty weird too!

Q7). If you could meet anyone in the world from any time period, who would it be?

A). Michael Jackson. I’d love to find out what he was actually like in person.

Q8). What is one thing you’re absolutely terrified of?

A). Death.

Q9). Would you rather be 15 feet tall or 1 foot tall?

A). Being 15 feet tall would be tough but I think I’d prefer that to 1 foot tall. Neither option would make for an easy life at all.

Q10). If you could spend a day as the opposite gender (or basically whatever you aren’t currently), what would you do?

A). I’d just do everything I normally do and see how it feels to experience life as a man. If I gained extra muscle and physical strength as a man, maybe I would put it to good use and rearrange my heavy furniture but that’s about all I’d specifically do differently.

Q11). What is the best book you’ve ever read?

A). Such a tough question… I’d probably say that so far, it’s the novel Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte.

That’s it! I hope you enjoyed my Born Pretty makeup haul as well as the questions from Geraldine.

  1. I loved this! Combining all these into one post 🙂 THANK YOU so much for the shoutout Hanna!! I totally understand and appreciate that you did the Q&A’s anyway!! 🙂 It’s such a shame the eyebrow pump was faulty! I have known Born Pretty Store for a while now but never got anything from them. I hope the rest worked fine for you! I can’t wait to read it 🙂

    1. Hi, Geraldine! You are very welcome and thank you for all of your great questions! 😁 I think Born Pretty do make some good products but of course, the quality isn’t always optimal in this price range. I think they do make cosmetics really accessible and free international shipping is always nice! I am managing to dig out some of the brow gel from the bottle with a small angled brush so, even though it’s not ideal, it is at least still usable! Thanks so much for visiting and connecting! <3 Hanna x

  2. I’ve never heard of Born Pretty, I’ll have to check them out. The packaging of the products looks really nice, it’s a shame about the eyebrow pump x

    1. Hi, Sophie! Yes, I’ve always been quite impressed by how nice the packaging looks on Born Pretty makeup too. Shame about my dud eyebrow gel pump but I’ve discovered it’s still usable if I take the lid off and dip a brush in. Hanna <3

  3. I’ve never bought anything from it! 🙁

    1. Hi, Giulia! Thanks for visiting and commenting. Glad to hear that I’ve introduced you to a new brand that you haven’t tried before. Hanna x

  4. I’d never heard of Born Pretty before, I’ll have to go and give them a look! I have the same issues with the whole matte/dewy powder looks! I normally opt for my rimmel stay matte powder, I swear by it!

    1. Hi Gemma! So glad I’m not the only one who finds a matte powder absolutely essential! Now they’ve discontinued my favourite Boots Seventeen Miracle Matte Pressed powder, I think I’ll go back to using the Rimmel one, as it works great! Hanna x

    1. Thank you. I’m pleased you think so! <3 Hanna x

  5. I LOVED this post! You have definitely made me want to try this brand as I haven’t heard of them before! I also loved the little Q&A at the end to help get to know you better! xx

    1. Hi, Rachel! Thank you so much for your kind comment. Glad you enjoyed hearing about Born Pretty makeup as well as the little Q&A at the end. Hope your week has started out well. <3 Hanna x

  6. Such great affordable makeup picks here, hun! I’ve gotten through so much setting powder in my life (being a very oily skin, I have no other options!) and I’ve found that most of the time, budget-friendly powders perform just as well as expensive ones, so it’s not something that I like to splurge on anymore. These picks are so fab, and also, I too would love to tame a panda! Although if I could go with ANY animal, it would have to be a unicorn…! 😀 I too would love to try to be more consistent with blogging, also. Something I struggle with a lot, but life just gets in a way! This was such a fun post, I love Q and A posts as I feel that they really help us to get to know you a little better, which is fab! ❤ Thanks for sharing this, beaut. ❤ xoxo

    1. Hi, Kay! Thank you so much for your lovely comment. 💜 It sounds like you know only too well the struggle of oily skin combined with wearing makeup! It’s good to know that you think inexpensive varieties of powder usually perform just as well as the more expensive ones. Who wants to spend loads on boring stuff like powder, after all?! 😂 And yes, a pet Unicorn would be incredible! 😍👌🦄 Hope your week has started out well! <3 Hanna x

  7. I love it when there’s free shipping with no minimum! It’s great that Born Pretty grew to the empire they are today. I’m the same about eyebrows. Oh man, the pressed powder from Miss Beauty London is such a steal! I think it’s great that you take the time out to comment on other people’s blogs. on working with your blog and it’ll grow with time :). I agree with you about the social media or TV option. You can learn so much more with social media if you follow the right accounts. It can be also a source for drama too if anything, haha! Thanks for sharing!

    1. Aw, thanks so much for your comment Nancy! You make some very accurate points, especially about the social media drama! 👌 I really enjoy following other people’s blogs and I do spend a huge amount of time consuming the content of other bloggers, rather than creating it myself. But, I actually wouldn’t want it to be any other way! Haha 💜 Hanna x

My eyebrows have been neglected of late too – I must try Billion Dollar Brows. I have heard of this brand before. And great answers! I’m a Jayne Eyre fan too – you can’t beat a classic! 🙂

    1. Hi, Ashley!
Billion Doller Brows are usually pretty good, although I don’t see the brand around much over here anymore.
As much as I adore modern literature, I agree that you just can’t beat the classics IMHO! <3 Hanna x
